The Jugend town Ålesund was established in 1904 after a fire destroyed 80% of the city center. The city is part of the Reseau Art Nouveau Network, which includes cities such as Glasgow, Vienna, Barcelona, Brussel, and Riga.

Beautifully situated close to the Atlantic ocean, the long fishing traditions are visible. The aquarium just outside the city center is charming. This town offers experiences at sea and on top of mountains. A stunning nature strengthens the experience of being in the natural habitath of men vs. nature.

To really appreciate the stunning nature, take the 418 stairway walk from Byparken (city park) to Fjellstua (mountain cabin) on the mountain Aksla, it will give you the best view.  Or join a bird safari! Also you can learn more about the architectural story of the city at the Jugendstilsenteret (Jugend style center) and the Kunstmuseet KUBE (art museum KUBE).
